Kikilias: Greece is becoming a sustainable tourist destination

On the occasion of today’s World Environment Day, The Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias with his tweet refers to 3 main pillars of the Ministry for sustainable tourism in order to protect the beauties of Greece and not to alter the unique Greek tourism product that offers foreign visitors a unique experience.

More specifically, Vassilis Kikilias emphasizes cooperation announced by Ministry of Tourism with Google for the acceleration of the green and sustainable of the Greek tourist product. This partnership includes, inter alia, training programs for tourism businesses as well as $ 1 million in funding from Google.org to support organizations assisting businesses in Greece in terms of sustainability and ecotourism.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism creates National Observatory for the sustainable tourism development, while regarding the two “household brands” of the Greek tourism product, the Mykonos and Santorini, a plan is already being implemented to ensure their sustainable tourism development. Similar interventions have been launched for other islands and popular travel destinations that do not yet face a problem.
