Where is Erdogan going with the uninterrupted challenges – Greece’s moves

A common denominator of the challenges of the Turkish leadership is the international relations of Greece and especially with the USA, but also the international conditions that Ankara, from time to time, withdraws and interprets, even questioning the sovereignty of Greek islands.

Two different political worlds are now highlighted by the Turkish provocation, which has put Greece at the center of its absurdity. A challenge that, as it unfolds, reveals them different targets of Turkey and Greece on the Greek-Turkish issue.

THE incessant and needless rhetorical attacks by Tayyip Erdogan and his top ministers against our country, expose the political poverty of the Turkish president, who is looking for a lifeline for his stay in power, at a time when the poll is collapsing while his policy is multiplying the problems inside Turkey. This leads analysts and experts around the West to conclude that the Turkish frenzy intended primarily for domestic consumption. An inexpensive way for Tayyip Erdogan to boost the morale of Turkish citizens plagued by the economic collapse and the “squeezing” of their rights.

In the exact opposite direction, the Greek goal in the Greek-Turkish issue is determined after the escalating challenges of Ankara. The internationalization of challenges and the disclosure of factual facts always on the basis of international treaties and international law against all irrationality and illegality, so that with evidence it can be understood that Turkey is the “troublemaker” in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region, especially in a critical geopolitical period. That is why Athens insists on refusing to follow the rhetorical descent of Ankara’s threats and provocations, but steadily and unwaveringly, it is watching with composure and readiness, while maintaining at every opportunity, its non-negotiable commitment to defending its sovereign rights.

What haunts the Turkish leadership

A “bra de fer” that continues daily, and escalated considerably after Greek Prime Minister’s trip to the USA, which now “haunts” the Turkish leadership, since in every delirium its common denominator is the international relations of Greece and especially with the USA, but also the international treaties that Ankara tries to retrieve and interpret from time to time, even challenging the sovereignty of Greek islands. Complaints that consistently receive Athens ‘clear response that “Greece has rejected with legal arguments based on international law all Turkish unilateral objections. We will not enter into a sterile confrontation of statements.’ “Athens responds calmly and with evidence.”

In this context after Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu who again challenged the sovereignty of the Greek islands from the occupied territories, the baton according to the usual – now – tactics, was received by Tayyip Erdogan with a new amok against Greece, this time remembering the Treaty of Sevres and 1922. “We did not allow those who were excited and in love with the Treaty of Sevres to take control of the country,” he said at a ceremony marking the Black Sea drilling. “As a country that is surrounded by three seas, we make our presence felt not only in the Black Sea but also in the Eastern Mediterranean. We support our rights on every platform, just like those of the Turkish Cypriots. ” he added.

Tayyip Erdogan spoke of “robbers” claiming that “our country’s position on this issue is clear and without any doubt. We do not extend our hand to anyone’s rights, nor do we allow robbers to infringe on our rights. We do not allow anything by force, with various tricks and threats to take away what belongs to us “.

“As long as the irreplaceable position of our country is realized, they will change their policy and the one they prefer not to cooperate with us for political reasons,” he added.

Next key stations for the Greek-Turkish

As has already been announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself, the Turkish provocationhas been on the agenda of the European Leaders Summit on 23-24 Junealready calling for the explicit condemnation of the 27. The NATO Summit at the end of the month will be crucial, where for the first time after the Turkish escalation, they will be in Madrid at the same time, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Joe Biden and Tayyip Erdogan. After all, the 16 maps published by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and depicting the magnitude of Turkish revisionism are now in the hands of partners and allies. While the Prime Minister himself has clearly set the red lines of Athens against the despotic revisionism that wants to change the acceptable borders on which the modern world was built. “History is not rewritten because someone constructs it arbitrarily in his mind”has underlined.
