Even the most skeptical, after the new intervention of the prime minister on the “capital” website, realize that Kyriakos Mitsotakis has started preparing the electorate for the possibility of setting up early ballot boxes. The Prime Minister reiterated the intensification and aggravation of the political climate, knowing that SYRIZA is not going to stop both the “hard rock” against the government and to call for elections. In Koumoundourou, they see that he is trying to shed the “smudge” of appealing to the popular verdict to the official opposition.
After the last interventions of Kyriakos Mitsotakis the discussion has changed.
The “if»Elections will be held in the fall has given way to “never” elections will be held in the fall. There are three key dates circulating among MPs, even the majority, as most likely for early ballots. These are the last two weekends of September and the first of October. Usually August until about the 20th of the month is a “dead” political month without much tension. Possible fires, which everyone avoids, or the escalation of the Greek-Turkish are conditions that create other data anyway. After the return from the holidays, however – which this year for the party staffs has already been ordered to be short – time is not ruled out to count down. In view of the TIF, the pace will increase, the media will be refilled with MPs and executives and the pre-election scene will be set for good.
Almost everyone rules out Kyriakos Mitsotakis running political developments in the heart of summer. Nobody wants to interrupt the “baths of the people”, combined with the good climate that the good numbers of tourism are expected to create. What they do not rule out is for the prime minister to do what he keeps repeating: To end the four years by denying everyone.
At this stage, if Kyriakos Mitsotakis goes to the polls in the fall, he seems to have lost one of his papers. The surprise. There are many scenarios and the party staffs take it for granted that the ballot boxes will be set up relatively soon.
In SYRIZA they appreciate that in the week after the celebration of the Virgin Mary the prime minister will announce the elections. Alexis Tsipras escalated his attack, demanding that the date of the elections be announced in September and that a caretaker Interior Minister be appointed. In Koumoundourou they want to show that they raise their glove and that they are not afraid of the polls.
Indicative of the prevailing scenario is that the calculations now reach the second ballot box. Experienced parliamentarians, catching the popular feeling, believe that a climate of waiting for the announcement of the elections does not help. And from the moment that the distribution of heating oil starts on October 15, they estimate that Kyriakos Mitsotakis would like to have gotten rid of all the ballots by then, if possible. The prime minister’s entourage insists that his intention remains the exhaustion of four years, knowing, however, that everything will be judged in August.
