According to the minister, the critical specialties in the hospitals and the logistical coverage and upgrading of the nursing institutions are among the priorities of the ministry, whose political leadership is informed, as he constantly mentioned, of the issues that exist. The minister discussed with the administration of the hospital and the 7th Ministry of Health the project concerning the new wing of the hospital in Rethymno, as well as its energy upgrade, which are two major requests of vital importance for the orderly operation of the health structure of the prefecture.
At the same time, as pointed out, a permanent announcement will be made immediately for the specialty of anesthesiologists with incentives that will help to fill the positions for this specialty without problems. It will also follow announcement for nursing staffsince as he said that the priority is human resources in positions of the NSS. The minister acknowledged with statements that the Rethymnon Hospital has exhausted its potential and as he mentioned, when the health map in Crete is completed, the prospect of a new hospital in another location will be examined. He even emphasized that he does not wish to make announcements, but he is interested when the ministry is ready to announce decisions, projects, costed and with a schedule.
According to the Member of Parliament of Rethymnon Yiannis Kefalogiannis who accompanied the minister on his visit to the Rethymno hospital, the amount of the interventions and projects concerning the hospital is more than 14 million euros.
