At his inauguration ceremony Greek-Bulgarian IGB Natural Gas pipeline (Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria), which will take place at 12.00, in the Industrial Area of ​​Komotini, will be attended by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Invited are Prime Minister of Bulgaria Kirill Petkovalong with the energy minister, as well as his energy minister Azerbaijanof the country that supplies Natural Gas to the TAP pipeline, which is expected to have a meeting with its Greek counterpart Kostas Skrekas.

IGB connects Komotini with Stara Zagora in Bulgaria and will transport Natural Gas from the TAP pipeline to the neighboring country. It can transport 3 billion cubic meters of Natural Gas and there is the possibility of increasing it to 5 billion cubic meters.

The project, which was planned years ago, is of particular importance today, after the energy crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and highlights the pivotal role of Greece and especially Thrace in the field of energy and the strengthening of the energy sector. security of the countries of the region.

Before the opening ceremony, Mr. Mitsotakis will tour the prefecture of Rodopi.
