The prime minister met with representatives of the Muslim minority of Thrace, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, outside the Jeni Mosque of Komotini, in the forecourt of the Mufti and the Administrative Committee, during his tour of the city center, and wished them for the great celebration, Kurban Bayram, which begins tomorrow.

Mr. Mitsotakis was welcomed by the supervisors of the Muftis of Komotini Jihat Halil, Xanthis Hemseri Nezden, Didymoteichos Osman Hamza, the presidents of the Administrative Committees of Muslim Property of the three regions, Selim Isa, Halil Karandai, Irfan Molla, the director of the Komotini Seminary Irfan Hussein, religious teachers and representative of the Thracian priests.

The Mufti’s supporters welcomed him, offered him commemorative gifts, emphasized that Thrace is a “model” and underlined that it is a great honor for them the presence of the prime minister, one day before the start of Kurban Bayram. “Happy birthday, I wish you all the best, good health”, Mr. Mitsotakis wished them.

“It is a great honor for us that the prime minister is here on a holy day for Muslims,” ​​Ilknur Kigitzi (her name means ‘first light’), who is a Turkish language teacher at the Muslim Seminary of Xanthi, told APE-MPE.

“We live very peacefully, we have no issues, everything is fine, Thrace is a model of peaceful coexistence of people with different religions,” he noted.

The prime minister was accompanied by the member of parliament Euripides Stylianidis and the regional governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Christos Metios.

After the mosque, the prime minister continued his tour of the Komotini market, talked to shopkeepers and consumers, while sitting in a cafe with MPs and officials of New Democracy.
