Athens’ response to Cavusoglu-Akar: Ankara’s claims are baseless

by

Diplomatic sources say that Greece will respond when it decides, in the way it decides and with the appropriate institutions to these challenges.

Greece will not play the tension game, it will not follow the escalation rhetoric chosen by Turkeydiplomatic sources report, commenting on them baseless claims of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Turkey.

The same sources state that in any case, Greece will respond when it decides, in the way it decides and to the institutions that should respond to these challenges.

Hulusi Akar’s statement about Greece’s expansionism was commented on SKAI TV by the deputy minister of the interior, Stelios Petsas on SKAI TV, reminding that the Turkish side has established the casus belli and it would be good if what is said does not conflict with reality .

“No one accuses them of expansionism. They themselves have established the famous casus belli by a decision of the Turkish National Assembly in 1995. Isn’t that an aggressive move? Haven’t they invaded Cyprus themselves and own about 40% of the island since 1974? Didn’t they create the Aegean army in 1975? So sometimes what we say must not conflict with reality”, said Mr. Petsas.

The Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, attempted to present our country as a “violator” of International Law, with the militarization of the islands at the forefront. He also emphasized that Ankara is not going to tolerate this “clear violation”, as reported by SKAI’s correspondent in Turkey, Manolis Kostidis.

On the other hand, Mr Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar accused Greece of expansionism. “So we’re the expansionists and the aggressive ones? Everyone laughs at this. There is a reality here. Since 1832 they have been expanding their territory. If you show it full screen it will be better. In color you will see how the partners prepared it. From 1832 to 1947 it expanded and reached right in front of our noses. Who is the expansionist?” he said.
