All opposition parties expressed a negative opinion
By a majority, only from the ND MPs, Ambassador Themistoklis Demiris, after his closed-door hearing, received the positive expression of opinion from the Institutions and Transparency Committee of the Parliament for his appointment to the position of commander of the National Intelligence Service.
On the contrary, all opposition parties expressed a negative opinion.
According to sources from SYRIZA, to questions from members of the Commission from all opposition parties whether other politicians and journalists are being monitored, besides Nikos Androulakis and Thanasis Koukakis, Mr. Demiris replied:
“I have full control of the service for the last 15 days, no one is exempt…”.
There was a disturbance in the room, with the opposition MPs referring to an announcement – a confession by Mr. Demiris that other politicians and journalists are also being monitored.
In response to questions, Mr. Demiris did not proceed with any clarification or denial.
