Economist’s response to SYRIZA for Politico: It continues to be trivialized – The article is very inaccurate

by

The facts have nothing to do with what the editor refers to in the article, nor with the shameless lies of the representative of SYRIZA, says Mr. Economou.

SYRIZA continues to be humiliated, as it tries for the umpteenth time to oppose itself using inaccurate, misleading and hypocritical reports.

This time he points to a very inaccurate report in Politico, which comes from a journalist known for her connections with SYRIZA.

According to Mr. Oikonomou, the real facts, which are documented by an attached document and confirm the above, are the following:

“The Department of Justice and Consumers of the EU, on July 29, sent a letter to the Permanent Representative of Greece in Brussels and his other counterparts – including his Spanish colleague – requesting information on the legislation regarding the processing of personal data for reasons national security, following reports of Predator use within the EU.

In his reply, the Permanent Representative of Greece informed about the legal framework in force in our country and the ongoing Predator investigation.

The Greek Representative underlined that he is always at the disposal of the Community Services to inform in person (as, after all, he had done before the letter) on any matter, especially when it is ongoing, before starting a process of exchange of letters.

And he pledged to return to the Commission, with detailed information on the results of the ongoing investigation, as soon as it is completed. His letter completely separates the Predator from the legal attachments.

After all, at that time the connection of Mr. Androulakis’s phone had not been announced. He also assured that the EPA and other public authorities did not purchase or use Predator or similar software. Regarding the legal attachments, he emphasized that the legal framework in Greece is one of the strictest and most careful in the EU. And he concluded by requesting that the competent EU bodies not rely on press reports, which are not distinguished for their accuracy and objectivity.

As it becomes obvious, the real facts have nothing to do with what the editor refers to in order to support her narrative in the publication, nor with the rhetoric and unabashed lies of the SYRIZA Representative. The question is now pressing: given the indisputable evidence, will the editor and SYRIZA have the temerity to retract and restore the truth?”
