Asked if PASOK agrees to a decade-long investigation of the issue, he said: “If the government seeks to divert the case by involving cases without evidence, then it will find us on the other side.”
We demand that the reason for the surveillance of Androulakis be publicly stated, the vice president of the Parliament and PASOK MP Odysseas Konstantinopoulos said on SKAI television.
“We, as PASOK – Movement for Change, are interested in the institutions and through our actions to investigate the matter of monitoring our President, N. Androulakis, we want the world to know that we honor and respect them” said Mr. Konstantinopoulos and continued:
“It is indicative of our culture that Mr. Androulakis was treated institutionally in a case that concerns him personally, because after he himself was informed by the European Parliament that through Predator, the illegal software that robots the user’s mobile phone, an attempt was made to track him against during the internal party elections, he addressed the Supreme Court and the ADAE.
Our faction followed what was institutionally foreseen. On the contrary, for its part, the government lied before the competent Committee on Institutions and Transparency, claiming that Mr. Androulakis is not being monitored, so that we finally get to its admission by the Prime Minister himself.”
“The monitoring concerns a prime minister candidate”
Mr. Konstantinopoulos also said: “We demand that the reason for the monitoring of the President of the faction be publicly stated, because this monitoring concerns a candidate for the Prime Minister of the country, given that the third party is mandated to form a government. The people must know what is going on. If Mr. Androulakis is dangerous for the country, even the last voter must know it. One cannot hide it, it is a matter of democracy.”
He added that Predator is not only about Mr. Androulakis, “it is about the 10 million citizens of the country. Because through this, every public official or citizen is exposed to blackmail by anyone who has the money to acquire the software.”
Asked if PASOK agrees to a decade-long investigation of the issue, he said: “If the government had the intention to tell the truth, it would publicly state the reason for the surveillance of the President of PASOK. We, in our request for the establishment of the Commission of Inquiry, have included the complaints of the KKE. Because we fully support the investigation of cases supported by hard evidence.
But if the government seeks disorientation of the case involving cases without evidence, then he will find us opposite. As we have already emphasized, if the government has evidence of the past it must bring it to the Institutions and Transparency Committee. But I wonder, New Democracy has so many years at its disposal scandals for SYRIZA and covers him, as he covered the Varoufakis case by avoiding a Commission of Inquiry?
Finally, I would like to point out that before his election, Mr. Mitsotakis was talking about the collapse of the institutions by SYRIZA, today it turns out that it is one of the same. Also, in the same way that SYRIZA attacked journalists in the past, New Democracy attacks today, creating a climate of toxicity in the country”.
