Dendias on Turkey: We will not turn issues of international legitimacy into an oriental quarrel

The reference to the occupation of the Greek islands is beyond unacceptable, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, speaking in the Parliament

Response to the new barrage of Turkish challenges gave this time from the floor of the Standing Committee of National Defense and Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias. As he emphasized, “it is beyond unacceptable to refer to the occupation of the Greek islands. I used the expression in front of – and on this matter – the French Foreign Minister sissy girls precisely to underline how unacceptable these things are, which are also unprecedented and unheard of.”

At another point in his speech, Mr. Dendias noted that “it is obvious that there is absolute Unity of the Greek people of the parties, market threats about when everyone will come
they do not touch the Greek people, just as we are not going to fall into the obvious trap of rhetorical sharpening, to respond with similar market threats and expressions, and in the end to turn a matter of principle of International Law, International Legitimacy into an oriental quarrel”.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, following his speech, pointed out that “we have managed to be part of a European reality, a factor in the protection of human rights. This is how we formulate our thinking and we will not allow anyone to pull us down to their level. The neighbor, or another country.”
