Unprecedented threats from Turkey: “Don’t step on it like the Ukrainians”

by

The vice president of the ruling AKP party, Nouman Kurtulmus, said that some are patting Athens on the back just as some were patting the back of Kyiv.

Every limit has been crossed by the rhetoric of tension on the part of Ankara, with Turkish officials continuing the barrage of threats and going so far as to warn Greece not to “step on” it like Ukraine.

“Just as some patted Ukraine’s back and created an environment of conflict with Russia, now, in the same way, they are patting Greece’s back,” they say to Greece, “You are a lion, you are a tiger,” said the vice president of the ruling of the Nouman Kurtoulmos party, as reported by the correspondent of SKAI in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis.

He did not even hesitate to…advise Athens, not to forget that it will never be able to trap Turkey, not to exceed its limits and described the Turkish nation as “sacred”.

“Our advice to Greece is this: Do not forget this holy nation. This holy nation never tolerates injustice done to it and will never allow Turkey to be cornered. In this sense, do not get involved in things that exceed your limits by relying on him or the other. Greece has no right to harass Turkey,” Kurtoulmos said.

The AKP vice-president also spoke about states trying to strengthen their power through third countries and called on Greece not to believe these countries and not to become their instrument.

“It used to be done through proxies and terrorist organizations. Now they are starting a new era. It would be a bit harsh to say “proxy states”, but… They try to increase their own power by using the states as if they are their own proxies. Our advice to Greece is not to become an instrument in this”, he said characteristically.

And while launching open threats to our country, Kurtulmus hesitated to claim that Ankara believes in solving the problems with Greece through negotiations and on the basis of good neighborliness…

“Not to enter into hostile or competitive relations with Turkey by believing what third countries, third parties say. We believe that we can solve our problems through negotiations with our neighbor Greece, within the framework of neighborhood relations. And for this, Turkey is trying to protect its rights in the Aegean by protecting its rights and justice on every platform.”
