The Special Court of Parontes Papagelopoulos – Touloupakis started with objections

At the beginning of the trial concerning the interventions of Dimitris Papaggelopoulos in specific prosecutors and for specific cases, the lawyer of the prosecutor Eleni Touloupakis, Yannis Mantzouranis submitted a request to produce the documents for the sick leave of a member of the Court raising the issue of illegal composition.

“I want to raise a question concerning the legal composition of the court or not,” emphasized Mr. Mantzouranis while arguing that the President of the Parliament may have been deceived, when he included the name of the judge in question in the drawing of the members of the Special Court held by the Parliament, although he was a patient, something that was generally known.

To this end, Mr. Mantzouranis asked the President of the Court Vasiliki Iliopoulou to provide full information on the sick leave of the said judge, in order to make it possible to check the legality of the draw of the members of the Court and hence the legality of its composition.

The accused Dimitris Papagelopoulos also spoke in favor of the request, who stated, among other things, that he “disputes the legality of the lottery” and added “Because of my old status and my code of values. I will not express any insinuation against the president of the Supreme Court who sent the list of areopagits to the Parliament. But it is strongly possible that the majority of the Parliament that impeached me under pressure used it as an alibi for the raffle of the judges in question, committing yet another illegality”.

Earlier, the lawyer Themis Sofos representing the appeals prosecutor Georgia Tsatani, one of the prosecutors who have denounced Dimitris Papagelopoulos for interference, expressed his client’s intention to file a civil action. “We further declare a representation in support of the charge for Mrs. Georgia Tsatani who is present. Those for which Mr. Papagelopoulos is accused affect the legal assets of Ms. Tsatani, after being pressured to withdraw a case he was handling”.

THE Georgia Tsatani she was handling the case of businessman Andreas Vgenopoulos, who has passed away and had denounced the former minister for pressures against her.

All three prosecutors who have denounced Dimitris Papagelopoulos are present, Eleni Raikou, Univ. Athanasiou and Georgia Tsatani, as well as others while the trial also included Pavlos Polakis in support of Dim. Papagelopoulos and the prosecutor Touloupakis.
