Nikos Panagiotopoulos: The military leadership has the absolute support of all of us

“We state unequivocally that the political leadership surrounds with absolute confidence the entire military leadership, zero person excluded. This military leadership has been chosen by the government due to the institutionally provided manner of crises by the KYSEA. This military leadership has proven its value in a series of crises and emergency situations that have occurred since 2019,” emphasized the Minister of National Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos, in his statement to the newspaper “Ta Nea”.

“And at the present time when the threat against the country is more than visible, we all owe it, each one as he can and to the extent of his responsibility, to support the military leadership so that it can carry out its task without interruption, that is to shield the country” continued the Minister of National Defense.

“We have a lot of work to do as a continuation of the project we have already implemented.

The duty and responsibility of all of us is our homeland, for peace, security and prosperity we work hard and effectively” emphasized N. Panagiotopoulos.

Referring to the inclusion of the Fast Guided Missile Patrol Vessel “Lieutenant Vlahakos” in the Navy’s fleet, he pointed out that “a program of fundamental importance for the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces has been completed.”

“This state-of-the-art attack unit”, the seventh of the “Roussin” type received by the Navy, emphasized that “it is another force multiplier in the combat capability of the Armed Forces. It is a highly valuable addition to our fleet’s ability to project our country’s naval power in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.”

“With the completion of its construction, the capabilities of the domestic defense industry and its workers were also demonstrated,” added the Minister of National Defense.

“Without hesitation, the Ministry of National Defense accelerated the procedures to complete the Navy’s program at the Elefsinos shipyards and to deliver the last missile. This is yet another practical proof of the government’s determination to immediately strengthen and modernize our arsenal with state-of-the-art technologies,” clarified N. Panagiotopoulos.

“An important role in this strategic choice of the government, which ensures the terms of national independence in the modern, uncertain, geopolitical environment, is played by the personnel of the Armed Forces” the Minister of National Defense concluded in his statement.
