The PASOK-Movement for Change spokesperson reiterated his party’s proposal to reduce indirect taxes and increase direct taxes for high incomes and large assets
The comments of the Competition Commission on “possible falsification of free competition, regarding the correlation of the products that will be included in the basket with the private label products of the supermarkets, as well as the support that large supermarket chains may receive against the smaller points of sale” , said Dimitris Manzos, press representative of PASOK-Movement of Change, speaking on the “Today” show of the TV station SKAI.
Mr. Manzos argued that the government is “disorienting consumers with an insufficient aid”, which he described as “market pass, when you don’t dare to go to the supermarket. All prices are several percentage points higher than last year”, considering that the issue concerns both taxation and profiteering.
As for profiteering, Mr. Manzos emphasized that it is dealt with “with strong regulatory authorities. The Competition Commission, in full order and readiness, and the Interministerial Market Control Unit (D.M.E.A.). At some point, Mr. Georgiadis must provide us with complete information on the controls that have been carried out and the fines that have been imposed”, said the PASOK-KINAL press representative.
He reiterated his party’s proposal to reduce indirect taxes – VAT, excise duty on fuel – while the crisis lasts, and increase direct taxes on high incomes and large fortunes.
Mr. Matnzos claimed that “the government is doing all this so that the citizens beg for benefits every day, while some ND MPs are doing business and properties on the bad loans and the private debt of the citizens. At a time when Maximos has evolved into a closed caste serving interests with direct assignments, despite EAADISY’s recommendations to the contrary”.
Addressing the ND MP, Dimitris Markopoulos, Mr. Manzos underlined that “we found the case of Mr. A. Patsis from Diaugeia, which is a PASOK law. It will be checked by the financial prosecutor, under the PASOK law. The MP’s irreconcilable with offshore companies is a PASOK law. The protection of the first residence from the banks and funds brought by SYRIZA is like the PASOK law.”
