Theodorikakos for Tsipras: To make a proposal of censure or stop the slanders

What did the Minister of Citizen Protection say about surveillance

“All that we are watching from the columns of some newspapers is the product of an organized slanderous attack against New Democracy, the government and the prime minister,” Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos told SKAI, referring to the lists published by “Documento”.

In detail, Mr. Theodorikakos emphasized:

“This attack has a long history and is very well planned. I remember that in the summer, we were told murderers and traitors from the events of the island in the river Evros with the 38 people. Turns out we were absolutely right.

Then they called us child rapists. They called New Democracy a party of child rapists, when the Police arrested the gang that sexually abused a 12-year-old child.

Then they called us a police state when we ended the occupation of the student residence by drug dealers.

And now Mr. Tsipras is going one step further and questioning the country’s alliances, taking new steps of national adventurism.
For one reason only. In order to have an alibi when he loses in the next elections, to be able to remain in the position of the president of SYRIZA. That’s enough!

As far as the issue of surveillance is concerned, anyone who has evidence must submit it to the Greek justice system. It is a statement made by the prime minister and he announced the complete ban in the country of all illegal surveillance and eavesdropping software.

When the issue of monitoring Mr. Androulakis came to light, the Prime Minister pointed out the problem and took additional administrative measures by removing the head of the EYP and the Minister of the Government from the state apparatus.

And it proceeded with institutional initiatives that strengthen transparency and control so that the EYP can function properly.

So whoever is orchestrating this make-believe attack, if they are not brought to justice, I reckon they will continue to release lists and names every few days.

Mr. Tsipras has requested during the election period that the Minister of Citizen Protection be replaced. He should know that the constitution does not provide for such a thing. At a time when I spend a large part of my duties and my time in Evros, in Alexandroupoli to deal with the waves of illegal immigrants, I do not find the remarks of Mr. Tsipras particularly appropriate.

If he has a problem, with the institutional function of the Minister of Citizen Protection, he must go to parliament now and make a motion of censure against me, otherwise let him stop the slanderous attacks and insinuations because they do not honor him. Let them stop poisoning the political life of the country. Greece has serious challenges and important issues to face.”
