The Greek government has not procured malicious software and no state security authority in Greece has used it, the government representative Yiannis Oikonomou clarified again to SKAI, answering a related question.

“There is no evidence, except for a series of guesses, which some use to draw arbitrary conclusions,” stressed Mr. Economou.

He pointed out that with the new legislative regulations that were submitted to public consultation for the process of removing the confidentiality of communications, for cyber security and the protection of citizens’ personal data, the Greek state is even more protected.

He emphasized that there will be strict specifications to start a legal connection of a political person and added that from now on they will have to be approved by the president of the Parliament and two different prosecutors.

He stated at the same time that as the Justice investigation progresses, every aspect of the surveillance case will be illuminated and the true dimensions of the case will be revealed.
