Having the Emeritus Professor of Constitutional Law at his side Nikos Alivizato, who – along with other reputable constitutionalists – highlighted the heavy blow to democratic institutions from the case of illegal surveillance and the responsibilities of the Prime Minister, Nikos Androulakis is giving a full-length press conference tomorrow on the case of illegal surveillance through EYP and their synchronization with the predator malware.

There will also be the legal representatives of the President of PASOK-Movement for Change, Man. Belegrakis, Mich. Kalantzopoulos and Chr. Kaklamanis.

The press conference will analyze the legal steps taken by Mr. Androulakis, how they largely guided the developments (such as the transmission of his indictment report on the Predator software to the Anti-Corruption Commission, when the tangle of his surveillance and by the EYP). In addition, the Government’s legislative framework for surveillance of political figures will be evaluated.

In an article-intervention in the “To Vima” newspaper, Mr. Androulakis foresaw his political stigma, noting that “under the fear of condemnation at the European level and the pressure of the coordinated political and legal actions that we took all the previous period, the government brought a draft law that, despite some positive elements, does not touch the core of the serious pathologies of the system but perpetuates them openly. In a disorderly retreat, he canceled the dangerous for our democracy excommunications of many government officials, such as Mrs. Bakoyannis who tore their robes in the television windows arrogantly claiming that the existing institutional framework is in accordance with the Constitution and sufficient”.
