The former foreign minister spoke at an event in memory of the historian Spyridon Sfetas
THE Prespa Agreement is “successful” said the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of “Pratto” Nikos Kotzias, at this evening’s event in memory of the historian Spyridon Sfetas, at the Foundation for Studies of the Hemos Peninsula (IMHA).
Mr. Kotzias he noted, however, that “some on both sides”, by actions, or by their omissions, “are trying to make it fail, by not implementing its provisions, and not claiming its implementation”. He specifically mentioned street signs that have not yet been replaced by local authorities since the Agreement was signed.
For the late scientist Spyridon Sfeta, he referred to his erudition and breadth of knowledge, but also to his contribution to diplomacy, through his books, and his actions for the scientific documentation of historical events during the procedures that led to the Prespa Agreement. “It enriched my knowledge, it helped my reflection, to think twice and thrice about every move and to be more sure of what I came up with… I had a permanent conversation with him, criticism from his side, in the logical sense of criticism , with his opinions, which I always took seriously” added Mr. Kotzias.
Mr. Kotzias, during his two-day stay in Thessaloniki, met with members of the committee against the war in Ukraine, visited its offices TEF and he had a meeting with the president of TIF-Helexpo Tassos Tzikas, while later he had contacts with the University of Thessaloniki.
