The special rapporteur of the ND observed that the 2023 budget is the first budget in the last twelve years, drawn up outside the framework of memorandum surveillance
The government has successfully faced the international challenges, emphasized the special rapporteur of the ND, Yiannis Kefalogiannis, during the first day of discussion of the 2023 state budget.
As he said, for 2022 a growth rate of 5.6% is predicted, almost double the European average, compared to 5.3% that was predicted in the Draft State Budget, while for 2023, growth is expected to be 1.8% , compared to just 0.3% estimated for the average of the Eurozone and the member states of the European Union, according to the Autumn Forecasts of the European Commission. That is, it will be three to six times the European average.
Mr. Kefalogiannis noted that the 2023 budget is the first budget in the last twelve years, which is drawn up outside the framework of memorandum surveillance: “This fact gives a signal of upgrading the economic prospects of the country, being a lever for attracting investments and bringing the country closer in the recovery of the investment grade”.
At the same time, he emphasized that “the Greek people are now well aware that they have a government in front of them, which has given strong examples of its management ability: In dealing with the many and serious unexpected crises it has faced, in the expansion and strengthening of its international alliances country, and of course in strengthening all aspects of the economy that had been seriously affected in the last twelve years”.
