Confident of a self-reliant victory in the elections, the Prime Minister said from Brussels – “The events are hurting the credibility of Europe and the Republic”, he commented on Qatargate
The Prime Minister expressed his confidence in achieving self-reliance in the elections with the enhanced proportional system Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the greeting he addressed tonight in Brussels before Greeks of the diaspora at the headquarters of the European People’s Party.
“Stability is needed in order for the national ship to sail safely in the stormy waters of the current situation”, underlined Kyriakos Mitsotakis and repeated that “self-reliance does not imply a one-party government of the ND, but it is a necessary condition of stability”.
The Prime Minister pointed out that no vote should go to waste in order not to jeopardize everything we have achieved.
Mr. Mitsotakis mentioned that N. Androulakis with his recent statements revealed his desire to co-govern with SYRIZA.
“If he wants to monitor SYRIZA, he should say it clearly and not half-heartedly,” said the prime minister about N. Androulakis.
The prime minister did not fail to refer indirectly but clearly to Qatargate speaking of sad events and developments that affect the credibility of Europe and democracy.
“I hope that this specific case will be resolved soon because it injures the prestige of Europe, politics and democracy at a time when populism dominates and the questioning of democracy is intensifying,” the prime minister characteristically noted.
Mr. Mitsotakis attacked the president of PASOK, N. Androulakis, without naming him, saying characteristically that it betrays panic and pettiness to try to charge a PASOK executive to the ND.
He also accused Alexis Tsipras, saying that a former prime minister does not offer services to his country when he defames it, referring to statements by the president of SYRIZA that “Greece is a protagonist in exporting corruption”.
“Mr. Tsipras, Greece does not export corruption, it exports products,” he characteristically said.
