Money paid for bribes is likely to have been deposited into those accounts, according to the newspaper.
Belgian justice has asked Italian judges to “freeze” two bank accounts of Antonio Panzeri and his daughter, Silvia Panzeri, in connection with the scandalous case of bribery and corruption, the so-called Qatargate.
As reported in today’s publication of the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, money paid for bribes is likely to have been deposited in the specific accounts.
It has not yet been decided which Italian prosecutor’s office is going to take the whole initiative, but it is likely to be the judiciary of Lombardy, whose capital is Milan.
It is recalled that investigations are already underway in Italy into seven “suspicious” accounts of Panzeri, his daughter, Silvia, his assistant and partner of Kaili Francesco Giorgi and trade unionist Luca Vizentini.
For his wife, Maria Dolores Corleoni, her request to be extradited to Belgium has already been approved, while on January 3rd the Italian judiciary will rule on the extradition to Belgium of the daughter of former MEP and current accused of corruption, Antonio Panzeri, Silvia.
