“The UAE plays a very important role in the region,” the foreign minister pointed out Nikos Dendias in a statement to reporters before his meeting with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Dubai.
As Mr. Dendias pointed out, he is in the United Arab Emirates, in Dubai, after the Balkan tour, “in the context of regular contacts with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Emirates, as provided for in article 2 of the Agreement, which I had the honor to sign with Emirate, and which, I recall, includes a defense assistance clause.”
He also noted that the UAE is a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, while next year they will organize COP28 on the environment.
“In this context, there is great depth of cooperation, if we take into account that we will organize the Ocean Conference 2024. Again, I look forward to a very fruitful exchange of views”, he concluded.
