The 115th Fighter Wing of the Air Force, in Chania, was visited on Thursday by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who inspected VIPER and F-16 aircraft while being informed about the mission, organization and readiness of the Fighter Wing, the upgrading of the aircraft and the overall strengthening the Armed Forces.

“It is an important upgrade for the Air Force, a very important program which, in combination with the other investments we have made, I think gives us a long-term confidence that we have strengthened our deterrent capability to such an extent that we do not feel threatened by nobody”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized.

The Prime Minister made a special mention to the pilots, but also to all the personnel who operate the aircraft: “And of course I should emphasize the fact that it is not only the aircraft but also the operators and technicians who keep them in the air. And that is why I insist that as much as we support the infrastructure from the Greek taxpayer’s deficit, we can support the people as much. I think you are well aware of that.”
