“We have increased the student allowance from 1,000 euros to 1,500 for all beneficiaries and to 2,000 for those who live together,” said the minister speaking on the morning show of SKAI and Giorgos Autias.
Clarifications on the student allowance and the beneficiaries were given today by the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, arguing that the ministry’s budget for the student allowance amounts to 75 million euros for 2020 from 40 million in 2021 and 72 million in 2022.
“We increased the student allowance from 1,000 euros to 1,500 for all beneficiaries and to 2,000 for those who live together,” said the minister speaking on the morning show of SKAI and Giorgos Autias.
“These are important benefits for the families and for the students” clarified Mrs. Kerameos and reminded that a year ago the ministry, with a special arrangement made, the beneficiaries of the student allowance at the University of the Aegean, the Democritus University of Thrace and the university of Western Macedonia, the limit for beneficiaries was increased and from 30,000 which was the income, it went up to 40,000″.
At the same time, Mrs. Kerameos clarified that the platform for the beneficiaries of the student allowance will be opened in 2023 for them to submit the certificates and for the amount to be paid retroactively, as she said, because the allowance currently being paid is for last year.
The Minister of Education also stated that the goal of the ministry is to cover benefits that up to now had to be paid for by the parent through the public school.
He also emphasized that interactive boards will be provided this school year which will be installed in public high schools, high schools and in the fifth and sixth grades.
24,700 appointments in the last two years
Regarding the issue of teacher appointments, according to Mrs. Kerameos, 24,700 appointments were made in the last two years for education
“We are making efforts to get away from the concept of crooked implementation of the deputy. We want our staff to have a strong bond with the children,” he said.
Elections
Asked by Giorgos Autias about when elections will be held, Mrs. Kerameos said: “There is a person we have complete trust in and knows how to weigh the facts in order to protect the public interest.
