Confrontation between SYRIZA MP Giorgos Varemenos and ND MP Anna Karamanlis
An intense confrontation between SYRIZA MP Giorgos Varemenos and ND MP Anna Karamanlis took place on the “air” of SKAI’s “Today” show.
Giorgos Varemenos described Kyriakos Mitsotakis as a “political extortionist”, saying that he has violated the Constitution, with his words provoking the reaction of the ND MP.
Taking the floor, Anna Karamanli first expressed her heartfelt condolences for the two pilots who were killed and said:
“Good thing again, that Mr. Tsipras kept a minute’s silence yesterday in his speech in Peristeri.”
He also accused the president of SYRIZA that on the day the death of the first pilot was announced, he went to the Pallas theater smiling, showing a relevant photo of him with Rania Svigou and Popi Tsapanidou. “This is hypocrisy Tsipras,” he said.
Then Giorgos Varemenos shouted “wretchedness”, grabbed the photo and crumpled it. “What do they mean that we don’t respect the death of the pilots? Do you accept this?’ asked the SYRIZA member of parliament.
Dimitris Economou took the floor and told him that this gesture to a lady was not nice, asking for the tones to drop, with Mr. Varemenos declaring that he takes the gesture back. “To your honor” emphasized Mrs. Karamanli.
“I accept everything in the dialogue except the questioning of SYRIZA’s patriotism” added Mr. Varemenos, with the ND MP stating that she was making “political criticism”.
