Greece was “present” with the presence of the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an extensive discussion, yesterday Friday, on the management of the refugee, in which, among others, the Commissioner of Internal Affairs of the EU Ylva Johansson participated. He also had a series of contacts, eg with a large US delegation, ahead of Anthony Blinken’s visit to Athens for the fourth round of the US-Athens Strategic Dialogue.

However, the completeness causes a feeling, official at least, Turkey’s representation at the Munich Conference, which of course continues to face the unimaginable consequences of the biblical disaster caused by the earthquake. As Erkan Arikan, head of DW’s Turkish program from the Munich Conference, reports, it was already known that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu would not be traveling to Munich because of the earthquake. However, the Minister of Defense of the country Hulusi Akar did not attend the Conference either, although he was expected. According to him, in addition to the West’s support for the earthquake, Ankara’s “no” to the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO has not been lifted, and this causes concern and tremors.

Otherwise, it appears that Turkey this weekend is much more focused on Anthony Blinken’s visit and consultations with the US on Turkish soil on bilateral issues.
