“Syriza’s stance on the Evros fence is gray and cloudy”
The Minister of Citizen Protection called it a wretched slander Takis Theodorikakos the claims of SYRIZA, which are expressed against the government, itself and the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Domnas Michaelidou, through the announcement issued by the official opposition party after the complaints of an attack against the 12-year-old girl from Kolonos, in the house hosted in Lefkada, after the revelation of the gang rape and pimping case against her.
“There is no cover-up, the truth has been revealed in the case of the 12-year-old girl in Colonos and 21 people out of the 22 people involved have been sent to prison,” said the Minister of Citizen Protection, in an interview on the “Society Hour Mega” show.
He noted that the police must provide security to the child and the orders he has received are to do so in a discreet and more intense manner, while for the complaints that have been made he said that they are being thoroughly investigated, reminding that the previous ones were not confirmed.
For this reason, as he said, everyone must show more seriousness and responsibility and not use the drama of an abused child for partisan purposes.
Asked about the release of a pedophile who had been sentenced to more than 400 years in prison, Mr. Theodorikakos stated that he is troubled as a politician and as a father, but he expressed his satisfaction with the intervention of the Supreme Court prosecutor, Mr. Isidoros Dogiakos. “I stand by the fact that Justice has intervened through Mr. Doiakou. Let’s see the result”, noted the Minister of Citizen Protection.
Mr. Theodorikakos also spoke about the violence of minors, Mykonos, the murder of the journalist Giorgos Karaivaz, as well as the fence in Evros, attacking SYRIZA for this, while underlining that in Attica the power of the police for the tackling crime and stressed that in 2022 we had the fewest homicides in the last 15 years, of which 90% were solved.
Regarding youth violence, he said that the first person who has a say with children is the family, then the school and the municipality, pointing out that the police intervene when criminal acts are committed. He reiterated that the police cooperate with the school community and specially trained police officers visit schools.
Regarding Mykonos, he emphasized that “if some people think that the law will not be implemented, they are wrong”. He said that special services of the Hellenic Republic, such as the Economic Police and OPKE, with additional police officers are visiting the island to deal with abuses and that these surprise raids will continue and the island’s police force will be reinforced with another 100 people.
Asked about Karaivaz’s murder, he said investigations are in full swing and will continue until his killers are revealed.
Regarding the Fence on the Evros, Mr. Theodorikakos reiterated that it is a unanimous decision of KYSEA and a request of our critics, as it strengthens the security of the country and prevents the entry of illegal immigrants. To emphasize the deterrent nature of the Fence, he recalled the case of the two Pakistani terrorists who had illegally entered the country five years ago.
In conclusion, he described as a shame “the gray and cloudy attitude of SYRIZA on this issue” and said that the fence is not the border with Turkey, but the border has been drawn with the agreement of 1926. Finally, he emphasized that as long as is the ND government, the entire fence will have been built, even exclusively with national resources, within the next three years.
