In a deeply oppressive atmosphere, the ceremony of the Touching of the Holy Light took place in the Holy Church of the Resurrection in Jerusalem.

The ceremony was attended by the Greek delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andreas Katsaniotis o who then went to the Patriarchate where he received the Holy Light from the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III. The Holy Light will arrive in Athens at approximately 19.30 in the afternoon, on a special Aegean flight.

In his post on twitter, Mr. Kastaniotis said

“It is an honor to appear as a representative of the Greek Government at the Church of the Resurrection, to receive the Holy Light from the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III & to take it home with the resurrection message. Happy Easter to all Greek men and women everywhere in the world!”

Mr. Katsaniotis in his objection to the Patriarch said, among other things, “this year I have the honor of receiving the Holy Light from your hands and the privilege of conveying it, together with the resurrection message, to the pious people of Greece. With humility and deep respect we watched, together with the Greek delegation and the thousands of believers, this unique moment of Orthodoxy, the Ceremony of Touching the Holy Light in the Holy Church of the Resurrection. Once again, the Holy Light soothes our soul and strengthens our faith with His blessing and spiritual power.”

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs underlined that “The high mission of the Palaifate Patriarchate of Jerusalem extends over the centuries, with its constant struggle for the preservation of the Greek and Greek Orthodox presence in the Holy Land being indisputable. The Greek State always stands by You, supporting every effort for the protection and promotion of the Holy Pilgrimages of our faith in the Holy Lands, and for the defense of the rights and rights of the Zionist Church, including property rights, as well as the Pilgrimage Regime” while it closed his position saying that “Orthodoxy is not culture, it is the light of truth. May this light, the light that came out of the Holy Sepulcher, the light of the Resurrection of Christ, bring the message of life, peace and hope to the entire Universe.”
