The opposition to his amendment in the Plenary of the European Parliament, which paves the way for the European financing of border infrastructures like the fence of the Evros, he hailed the European People’s Party (EPP) on his Twitter account, leaving spikes for the European Socialist Party.

“Strong majority support in European Parliament for European People’s Party amendment strengthening border infrastructure” notes the EPP, and adds:

“With a new migration crisis for Europe around the corner, the Social Democrats they refuse to face reality of the migration challenge in Europe today!’ adds the EPP.

With 322 votes the EPP amendment was voted in the Plenary according to which funds should be mobilized immediately to strengthen the capacities and infrastructures at the borders. In particular, the EPP amendment on the financing of infrastructure at the EU’s external borders was voted for by 322 MEPs, 290 voted against it and 20 abstained from voting.

Now the matter will be processed again in the European Parliament taking into consideration the text of the EPP amendment that was voted on.
