He also sent an invitation “to all parties other than ND and far-right for cooperation on the basis of programmatic convergences, clarifying that a government cannot be formed without the participation of the winner of the elections
The official opposition leader described the upcoming elections as a “clash of two different worlds” Alexis Tsipras and stressed that the victory of SYRIZA “will pave the way for a government of progressive cooperation”, without second and third ballots. He also sent an invitation “to all parties other than the ND and far-right for cooperation on the basis of programmatic convergences, clarifying that a government cannot be formed without the participation of the winner of the elections, while he spoke of “not a second chance, but a first chance to govern based on our program”.
Speaking, earlier this evening, at an event of SYRIZA Berlin in collaboration with the “Rosa Luxemburg” Foundation of the German Left, Mr. Tsipras declared that he was proud of the work of his government and pointed out that in 2019 the New Democracy government could not claim that he “received chaos.” “We were the only post-colonial government that what we left did not allow the next government to say ‘we received chaos.’ The country of 2019 was nothing like the collapsing country we found in 2015,” he added.
The leader of SYRIZA spoke of different challenges and highlighted as his main priority “for the world to feel justice again”, to eliminate injustices and the client state. “We promised to get the country out of the memorandums and we succeeded. That was our goal. And to reduce inequalities. And we did it in the framework of memorandums. The next ones found everything laid out and with the pandemic they also had the opportunity to spend. There is no measure of comparison. If we could spend 50 billion (…), hospitals would not be in this mess, we could support the vulnerable and the middle class. We are not asking for a second chance. We are asking for the first opportunity to govern based on our program,” he stated emphatically.
