The question “who and why is afraid of transparency” is asked by the press representative of SYRIZA PS, Popi Tsapanidou in response to the announcement of SEDEA (Association of Polling, Research & Market Companies).

“SEDEA, following yesterday’s statement by the government representative, today responded negatively to the request of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance for the publication of the primary and unsubstantiated data of the polls. Without invoking any specific scientific reason for not posting them, he denies a self-evident request for transparency even during the pre-election period”mentions Mrs. Tsapanidou in particular.

The representative of the party comments: “Really, however, on what scientific reliability and validity is the publication of the assessment of the election result based and not only the voting intention?”. “Especially,” he notes, “when in the past, as for SYRIZA– PS, large discrepancies have been recorded between the polls and the election result, as in the elections of September 2015 and July 2019 but also in the 2015 referendum, transparency would also strengthen the damaged credibility of the polling companies”.

“So the question remains. Who and why is afraid of transparency?, emphasizes Mrs. Tsapanidou, concluding that “in any case, very soon the verdict of the people will judge us all. And the parties and polling companies.”
