That according to SYRIZA, the press and the media would be in a better situation if the SYRIZA channel had been created with the pastures of Mr. Kalogritsa, commented the Minister of State and Government Spokesman Akis Skertsos, on the sidelines of the data of the international non-governmental organization “Reporters Without Borders” according to which Greece is in 107th place in this year’s press freedom ranking.

He adds that fortunately the independent ESR and the supreme special court had a different opinion and saved us from this type of “freedom”.

He summarizes that the government takes into account this ranking, despite the obvious, as he observes, lack of basic reliability in the evaluation criteria, because the freedom of the press is too serious a good of democracy to leave it to “reporters without borders”.

Its placement in detail

According to Reporters Without Borders, press freedom flourishes in military and authoritarian regimes or in countries torn by civil wars, such as Burkina Faso, which is ranked 58th in this year’s press freedom ranking, Guinea, which is at 85, Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau at 74 and 78 respectively. On the contrary, according to the same organization, the press “suffers” in European democracies that have deep-rooted respect for the freedom and independence of journalists, such as Greece, which it ranks in 107th place (!!!).

According to SYRIZA, the press and the media would be in a better situation if the SYRIZA channel had been created with the pastures of Mr. Kalogritsa. Fortunately, the independent ESR and the supreme special court had a different opinion and saved us from this type of “freedom”.

To compare Greece, where even the filthy “Makleio” circulates freely, with totalitarian, obscurantist regimes, simply characterizes the authors of the report.

To those who, therefore, dream of totalitarian regimes as “paradise” for the freedom of the press, we have one thing to say:

Representative democracy is always fragile and “sadly never enough”. That is why it needs constant care, memory and struggles to protect it from its enemies. Like the fight we won yesterday, with SYRIZA and MeRA25 absent, after the decision by an overwhelming majority of the Supreme Court to prohibit the criminal organization-party of H. Kasidiaris from claiming the citizens’ vote and his re-entry into the Parliament .

PS We bother with this ranking, despite the apparent lack of elementary credibility in the evaluation criteria, because freedom of the press is too serious a democratic good to leave to “reporters without borders”, who, contrary to their title, live within closed borders of ideas.
