“The climate crisis is here for this and the assessment is that this summer will be as difficult as last year,” he said today in radio of SKAI 100.3, the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianidis.

“We must by all means increase speeds and stop considering that we are living in ordinary times,” he added.

Mr. Stylianides mentioned that with the new doctrine implemented since last year, the mechanism is now more familiar.
With regard to aerial means, he estimated that this year our country will have at its disposal 85-87 planes and helicopters, together with the national fleet.

Regarding ground resources, he mentioned that we will have increases in the part of volunteers but also from the donations made both to the Fire Department and the Ministry.

Asked what will happen to the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection on May 22, if no independent government is formed, Mr. Stylianidis said that the general secretaries will remain in their positions, while he will recommend that the deputy minister also remain in his position Evangelos Tournas, so that there is continuity in the work that has been done so far.

Asked to comment on the recent characterization of “naturalized expatriate” attributed to him by Mr. Tsipras, Mr. Stylianidis spoke of an ahistorical statement, out of place, time and context. He stated that he does not wish to comment on the substance of the statement and added that he leaves it to the judgment of all Greeks, whether they live in the diaspora or in Greece.
