Mr. Mitsotakis reiterated that the best scenario for the elections is the independent New Democracy government – In the second elections I will debate with Mr. Tsipras, said Mr. Mitsotakis
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis went ahead with the revelation that he will accept a debate with the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, in the second elections, if they need to be held.
Speaking on Monday morning to ANT1, he said that the first elections are held by simple proportionality, which is why there must be a debate with all the parties.
He added that in the second elections, if they need to be held, there should be a telephone battle between the two leaders.
This, because, as he said, the next elections will be held with enhanced proportionality and with a bonus of additional seats in the first party.
The prime minister emphasized that “the only elections before us are those of May 21” and added that he will respect the constitutional imperatives, he will get the investigative mandate “but what I will do with it will have to do with the election result” he noted .
“The election result will show us the next moves,” he said characteristically.
The prime minister referred to the leader of PASOK, Nikos Androulakisrepeating that he did not agree to meet him after his election.
He added that “the strategy of neither Tsipras nor Mitsotakis was predetermined from the moment he was elected to the leadership of PASOK” and added that “at the moment there are big differences between the ND and PASOK, while the best scenario for the country is the independence of the ND”.
He also said that PASOK is closer to SYRIZA and Mr. Tsipras than to ND and himself.
“We have big differences with Mr. Androulakis’s PASOK. Mr. Androulakis does not want me as prime minister, but we also have differences on a political level.”
For new announcements he said that “as long as we are moving within the budget targets we do not need anyone’s approval. In order for our program to be implemented, we have said that a prerequisite is high growth rates that will allow us to create surpluses.”
“I will never allow the country to return to the era of surveillance and Memoranda. The days of covid fat cows are gone for good. Because we have proven that we are disciplined in the execution of the budget, we return at the end of the year the surplus we create. The first to reap the benefits are low-pensioners and vulnerable people,” said the prime minister.
He noted that he will continue to support them low pensioners until the personal dispute is “erased”: “We had said that we would correct the injustices of the Katrougalou law. For the first time we had increases in pensions. All saw increases but some not in their pocket due to personal difference. We fixed this with 200-300 euros as an aid. It is my commitment that we will continue to support the low pensioners until the personal difference is “erased”, he said.
He emphasized that all the crises faced by his government were imported, while the crisis of 2015 was caused by Mr. Tsipras.
He estimated that the accuracy will begin to decline, while tax cuts and wage increases are permanent. He predicted that “we have seen the worst of inflation. We estimate that inflation will move to 3% in 2024.”
He reiterated that the minimum wage to 930 euros and the average salary will reach 1,500 euros in 4 years.
To reduce it EFFK in food he said it would not be passed on to food prices. “Remember what happened with the VAT reduction on coffee? It didn’t make it to the final price,” he said characteristically.
Referring to Kasidiari party he said that “history will write that two parties fought, ND and PASOK. Some were present and some were absent. What happens in the apartment building on the right is none of my business. The ND will claim a vote of confidence only from MPs who have been elected with the ND.”
He also said that “some people were disturbed that Golden Dawn does not participate in the elections. Mr. Tsipras and SYRIZA show no satisfaction that Golden Dawn will not participate in the elections.”
For wiretapping he said: “I take full responsibility for the wiretapping. It will certainly weigh politically, negatively and not positively. But we did what we said we did: We are the only European country that prohibits the sale of illegal software and we took all the institutional measures to prevent this from happening again. We learned from our mistake and the EYP operates with greater guarantees of transparency compared to the past.”
