Specifically, according to a circular of the Ministry of the Interior on the subject: “Information and instructions for the conduct of the general parliamentary elections of 21 May 2023 within the Territory” it is stated that “the identification of voters can also be done using the digital identity of article 80 of the 4954/2022 (A’ 136), following the identification procedure provided for in the joint ministerial decision no. 4082/2022 (B’ 3982) and is accessible through the government portal https://wallet.gov.gr”.
In fact, as noted “if for any reason it is not possible to comply with the above procedure or its implementation causes delays in the voting process, at the discretion of the president of the electoral commission, the identification of the voters is done on the basis of their police identity card or the relevant temporary certificate from the competent authority or their passport or driver’s license or the individual health record of all insurance funds.
It is noted that any “cut” ID cards are acceptable. In particular for passports, it is pointed out that an expired Greek passport is also sufficient”.
Let us recall that in July 2022 the platform for digital identities, as well as the driver’s license, was presented by the Minister of Digital Governance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The minister spoke of a very important change, as the identity and driver’s license of citizens, for the first time, are verifiable documents.
