The Prime Minister was at the former KYT of Moria, which had grown to accommodate over 20,000 people

On the part of Mr. Mitarakis welcomed the Prime Minister to the former KYT, as he said, “to a better Lesvos”. The Minister of Immigration and Asylum emphasized that “We committed to the Greek people to substantially reduce the flows and drastically the effects of the crisis on local communities. And we did it with a plan and determination.”
At the same time, he spoke about the support to local communities with more than 110 million euros for projects and actions through the Solidarity Fund but also from extraordinary grants and municipal fees. “We supported 45 municipalities and their organizations nationwide, with amounts of more than 110 million euros for projects and actions. 65 million through the Fund and 47 million for compensations and municipal fees. The Northern Aegean was given 60 million within three years, that is, comparatively, 1/5 of the Regional Operational Program of the Northern Aegean 2014-2020 and 1/7 of the 2021-2027”said Mr. Mitarakis.
It should be noted that the construction of school and university units and sports facilities is planned on the site of the former KYT.
Today’s first stop of the Prime Minister at the former KYT of Moria was also attended and greeted by the Mayor of Mytilini Stratis Kytelis.
