“It is an institutional legacy for the country, of the maturation of both the political system and the electorate, now that the parties are pitted against each other with costed programs,” says government spokesman Akis Skertsos in an interview.

Speaking to ERT1, Mr. Skertsos raised the following questions:

-Does SYRIZA have the intention and will to submit its economic program that has been estimated by the General Accounting Office of the State at 83 billion euros?

– Can SYRIZA tell us how much its specific measures cost, such as, for example, the increase to 7.5% of GDP in health spending, how much does it cost?

-The reduction of food VAT to the minimum rate, how much does it cost?

-The reduction of the social security tax to the minimum rate, how much does it cost?

-Where will this money come from or from which taxes?

“New ones, I would say, because in the debate Mr. Tsipras showed us, he implied that he will also go for tax increases that are not in his program. Therefore, either there is a hidden new agenda of overtaxing the economy or the economy goes straight back to the rocks,” the government spokesman stressed.

“We are coming based on an economic proposal, which costs a cumulative 9 billion. We have priced it line by line. We know exactly how much each meter costs. We have presented it to the people. It is part of the 2023-2026 Medium-Term Fiscal Stability and Development Program. We always say and stand for a little less than what we actually do. And this is the main difference of N.D. with SYRIZA, which sets the sky with the stars and finally does the exact opposite or even worse than them, leading to great suffering for the people”, added Mr. Skertsos.
