On the occasion of statement of Giorgos Katrougalos on the contributionsthe Press Office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs issued the following statement:

“Up to three times more insurance contributions compared to the current regime will be paid by the self-employed in the event of the reinstatement of the Katrougalos law, which was announced by the former SYRIZA Minister of Labor Giorgos Katrougalos.

Specifically, any reinstatement of the Katrougalou law will mean the abolition of the reductions in contributions implemented by the current government, freeing thousands of professionals from the destructive burdens imposed by the SYRIZA law. Indicatively, the increase in contributions resulting from the application of the Katrougalou law is as follows:

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, responding to a related question, stated the following today:

“Part of what would await us if SYRIZA were to somehow return is being revealed. Everything he says has huge costs and will destroy both the economy and the citizens in Greece. In order to realize what SYRIZA says, either the deficit will have to expand and the debt will become gigantic – in which case we will forget about the investment tier and the IMF will come to Greece again – or taxes and contributions will have to be increased as it was the honesty of Mr. Katrougalos to speak, as a result of which citizens, businesses, and the middle class will be crushed.”
