“The dilemma today is one: “Either you give consent to the support of the government’s anti-popular policy or you strengthen the only real opposition from the point of view of workers’ – popular interests”. And such an opposition can only be exercised by the KKE” underlines the head of the party’s Central Committee, Dimitris Koutsoubas, in an interview with APE-MBE, calling for the reinforcement of the KKE in the June 25 elections.

He notes that the election result “shows two elements at the same time: On the one hand, a general negative correlation, which we can see in the high percentages maintained by the ND and in the over 70% accumulated cumulatively by the ND, SYRIZA, PASOK that governed all the previous years and they applied the barbaric memoranda, but also to the percentages of far-right parties” and “at the same time, the electoral support of the KKE reflects a countervailing “current” that exists and is being strengthened in society, although still weak. It is the “current” of questioning the dominant politics, its class character, the parties and governments that serve it, the state of capital. A “current” that is not looking for new saviors from the change of government”.

D. Koutsoubas underlines that the election results of the KKE are not opportunistic, on the contrary, they are based on a continuous effort to build competitive ties with the whole world that today looks more massively towards the KKE, “that is why we believe that it will repeat its option and on June 25”.

He also points out the importance of the emergence of the KKE as a third force where large sections of the working class gather.

He mentions, among other things, that the common people who voted ND, did not do so because they were “having a good time”, but because all successive governments, regardless of the hopes that were “sold to them by the kilo”, finally told them that “there is no alternative ” against mainstream politics. The same “signal” was given by the attitude of support of SYRIZA and PASOK on the “big” issues, as “opposition” to the Mitsotakis government in the last 4 years.

He notes that a large part of the voters who consolidated this logic voted for both ND and SYRIZA with the logic of the “lesser evil”, adding “we call on them again to abandon this logic and on June 25, to support their own their strength, the KKE”.

D. Koutsoubas, in his interview with APE-MBE, points out that “Strong opposition” cannot be exercised by SYRIZA and PASOK, i.e. the parties that voted for 50% and 70% of the ND bills respectively, which “turned their backs ” on all critical issues. He adds that “even on the issue of the constitutional revision – which we must clarify cannot be completed in the next Parliament, but in the one after that – if we take the example of the revision of Article 16 on the establishment of private universities that the ND is “raising”, it will let’s see that PASOK has already agreed and SYRIZA has left the door “wide open” with Tsipras’ recent statements”.

“Therefore, this also confirms that the only real, strategic and militant opposition to the anti-people government of the ND will be the KKE” emphasizes the head of the Central Committee of the KKE.
