From very early on, the newly elected members of Parliament began to arrive at the House of Parliament, 89 of whom were crossing the threshold of the Parliament for the first time.

Waiting for each member of parliament at his seat was a bag which contained – in addition to his parliamentary identity card – informative material, two booklets on the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament and the books “Parliament of the Greeks, the stations of an almost 200-year-old route”, “The political behavior of refugees 1923-1967”, “Cretan Student Union and Ethnotopic Student Associations during the dictatorship”, “The Constitution of 1864: 150 years later” and “The heart-wrenching agony of the ballot box”.
The acting Prime Minister, Ioannis Sharmas, was seated in the ministerial seats, together with the serving ministers of the government, while the officials’ seats were attended by the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakelaropoulou, next to her was the former acting Prime Minister, Vasiliki Thanou, while the presence was also given by former Speaker of the Parliament, Byron Polydoras.
The president of the ND, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, had by his side Yannis Bougas and Costas Tassoulas, the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, Olga Gerovasilis and Evangelos Apostolakis, the president of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis, Michalis Katrinis and Evangelia Liakoulis, the general secretary of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, Thanasis Pafilis and the president of the Hellenic Solution, Kyriakos Velopoulos, Vassilis Viliardos and Pavlos Sarakis.
Dora Bakoyannis and Dimitris Avramopoulos, Makis Voridis and Niki Kerameos and Thanos Pleuris and Adonis Georgiadis chose to sit side by side in the ND parliament seats.
Many MPs, old and new, found the opportunity, before the swearing-in began, to take selfies inside the plenary hall, while congratulations, kisses and teasing were given and received.
The president of the ND, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, before taking his place in the first parliamentary seats, passed by the seats of many ND deputies and personally congratulated them.
For her part, Dora Bakoyannis went to the president of PASOK-KINAL Nikos Androulakis and congratulated him, while she also had a few minutes’ conversation with Michalis Katrinis, whom she embraced.
Confusion was created for the moment in the PASOK-KINAL seat wing, as it had not been planned to hold more seats for the total number of MPs of the party which reached 41 – from 22 that were in the previous elections – resulting in approximately 18 people, among them and George Papandreou, to remain standing until the matter is settled and SYRIZA MPs are forced to change positions.
From a clothing point of view the ladies chose almost all the colors. From white, pink, yellow to orange, honey, canary and brick, while for men blue and black dominated.
Finally, it is noted that, according to a parliamentary source, “there is no provision for the payment of parliamentary compensation for this fleeting Parliament”.
