The political world expresses its condolences for the death of Theodoros Pagalos.

“We say goodbye to a protagonist of the political life of our country, Theodoros Pagalos. A fighter for democracy as an active member in the anti-dictatorship struggle, he was honored by our fellow citizens with his rise as a member of parliament for more than three decades and served with dynamism and determination as a minister in the largest part of his career. We distinguish him for his sharp mind and his essential thinking. The Government extends its deepest condolences to his relatives,” said Prime Minister, Ioannis Sarmas.

“With a dynamic presence since his youth in the student movement, in Lambrakis Youth and in the anti-dictatorship struggle, Theodoros Pangalos always had a strong voice and analytical thinking, which made him an important interlocutor in political discussions and developments. In 2000, he was Minister of Culture, among the many positions of responsibility he assumed in his political career, with which he left a strong mark on the political life of the country in recent decades. I express my sincere condolences to his family and loved ones,” said Mr Minister of Culture and Sports Giorgos Koumentakis in his condolence message for the loss of Theodoros Pagalos.

“His ideological and political composition, combined with his great analytical and synthetic ability and his wealth of knowledge, made him a reference member in the political life of the place. We worked systematically with Theodore for the integration of Cyprus into the European Union and I appreciated his will and patriotism. You appreciated Theodoros Pagalos even when you radically disagreed with his views. Those of us who knew him and fought with him will always have his witty speech in our thoughts. Have a good trip, friend Theodore”, emphasized Mr. Papandreou.

We will always remember his contribution”, noted Mr. Simitis.

The Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis with his post on Twitter he talks about a very intelligent man who “untimely left politics”.

THE Adonis Georgiades with his post on Twitter he commemorates Eclipon as a man who loved Greece.

“Sincere Condolences to the Family of Theodoros Pangalos. An intelligent man who loved Greece. Have a nice trip,” was his message.

“Theodoros Pangalos walked through History from a very young age. He entered the post-colonial landscape having already accumulated knowledge, academic titles and political experiences mainly from the area of the communist left”, said Evangelos Venizelos.

“It suited the PASOK turbine. Under the auspices of Andreas Papandreou, Theodoros Pangalos identified with Greece’s militant and active participation in European integration and expressed in the best way the perception that the EU is a field of constant and tough negotiation. He did this in his own dynamic personal style, but knowing full well the real relations of power and the limits that were set. He associated his name with great moments of all PASOK’s government periods and with historical successes such as the accession of Cyprus to the European Union. It was also associated with particularly difficult moments such as Imia and the Ocalan case. He didn’t lack either challenges or experiences. And in the painful period of the economic crisis and unpopular decisions he stood steadfastly on the right side of History. We co-existed as ministers of many governments, finally as vice-presidents of two governments during the crisis period. We agreed and disagreed on assessments and individual manipulations. I have the feeling that I got to know the multifaceted, contradictory and charming Theodore Pagalos well, this emblematic figure of the Post-colonial period and not only of his party space, and I say goodbye to him with sadness as a friend. My condolences to Christina, his children, all his people”, noted Mr. Venizelos.
