The prime minister from Thassos reiterated that the dilemmas ahead of the June 25 elections are clear – SYRIZA’s “Ovidian transformation” is not going to convince anyone, he said
“Today the country needs to continue the reliable, serious, robust foreign and defense policy”its president emphasized of New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakisand expressed the belief that on June 25 elections the voters, not only they will confirm the choice of May 21, but give N.D. and higher rates.
Addressing citizens at Port of Thassos Mr. Mitsotakis spoke about “a foreign policy, which may extend a hand of friendship to Turkey, but, at the same time, does not yield a single point from the defense of our sovereignty and sovereign rights”.
“Only a strong Greece, with a strong Economy and with strong Armed Forces can reliably negotiate with Turkey our one basic geopolitical difference, the delimitation of maritime zones, i.e. the EEZ and the continental shelf in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean”said Mr. Mitsotakis.
For the June 25 elections, he emphasized the dilemmas are clear and it’s not going to convince anyone n “Ovidian Metamorphosis” of SYRIZA.
“And in this ballot box, two different worldviews clash on how we perceive development and social justice,” noted Mr. Mitsotakis and added: “For us, for New Democracy, for the great popular progressive faction, the main concern it’s how the pie will grow. We know very well that lowering taxes brings investments and creates new jobs. We’ve proven it, we’ll keep doing it.
Our opponents propose another recipe which we have also tried, increased taxes, mainly for small and medium businesses, for the middle class. We have seen the results of this policy. We don’t want to go back to that past.
We are the only party that can guarantee that our Economy can remain on a stable growth trajectory, that taxes will continue to be reduced, but also that the surplus of prosperity will be shared, finally, fairly to all and sundry.” .
Mr. Mitsotakis asked that no vote be wasted of those who voted for New Democracy on May 21 and to try to convince others to vote for it and stated that this effort should not be done with extremes, with insults, with toxicity, but with a specific and documented programmatic reason.
For the prefecture of Kavala, he said that his goal is 4-0, that is, for New Democracy to get a fourth member of parliament.
He pledged that reforming the National Health System will be his personal bet and first priority.
At the beginning of his speech, Mr. Mitsotakis mentioned the island of Thassos and thanked for the support he gave to New Democracy in the May 21 polls.
“I could not complete my second campaign tour, within two months, without making a stop in my beloved Thassos”, he said and continued: “I am here today first of all to say a big thank you because at the ballot box on May 21 Thassos voted overwhelmingly in favor of New Democracy with unprecedented percentages for your island. And I believe that these can be interpreted in their own way, because in these four years, if we have proven anything as a government, it is that we stand close to the problems of the citizens and support the local government, regardless of color, to improve your daily life.
The funds disbursed, not only for Thassos, but overall for the local government, in this four-year period, are unprecedented.
You here in Thassos see these results of our successful economic policy. Tourism is going from record to record, the product of Thassos is being upgraded, new investments are being made, wages are rising for the workers, when the investments that are made are of better quality and when the quality of the services provided increases, this is how development comes for everyone.
We have proven that we can do this in these 4 years and I ask you to give us the strength to continue boldly on this path”.
The mayor of Thassos Eleftherios Kyriakidis welcomed Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the flagship, as he said, of tourism for Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and said that in the past four years more than 45 million euros were given to Thassos saying that so much money had never been given.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis walked along the beach of Limenas and greeted citizens.
