The creation of new, special Ministry for Social Policy Issues and Policy for the Family, the Demographic Issue and Housing was raised at the meeting held at noon by the President of the New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the members of the Supreme Confederation of Multiple Children of Greece, at the headquarters of the ND.

In the context of the information about the new Ministry, which has already been announced by Mr. Mitsotakis as one of the first priorities for the day after the elections, the joint drawing up of a National Strategy for the Family and the demographic issue of the country was also discussed.

The members of the Confederation submitted their proposals to President of the New Republicwho at the beginning of the meeting stated:

“You know we have already incorporated several of your suggestions into our reasoning for the next day, as well as of course the measures we have already taken.

Sometimes people forget them and it is good to remember that the 2,000 euros for each child born in the country was our own political initiative, as was the overall policy, I would say, for supporting the family. But obviously having multiple children is a special situation, which requires us to think a little “outside the box”.

We will examine with great care what you submit to us. I think we have a persuasiveness when we talk, you know we’re never going to tell you things that we know we can’t put into practice, but we manage and we always find common ground and I think that in the next four years, hopefully, we can do well things”.

At the meeting Mr. Mitsotakis informed the members of ASPE also about the creation of a new special Electricity Tariff for Large Families, which had already been launched by the Government of the New Democracy in the framework of the State’s compliance with the decision 430/2022 of the Council of State and its implementation by the next government. Essentially, this is a new, third category of Social Household Tariff (CTO C), for families with many children, a new special electricity tariff with the aim of drastically reducing their energy costs.

The meeting was attended by New Democracy’s Spokesman Akis Skertsos and the President of the Electoral Campaign Committee of ND Yannis Bratakos and from the side of the Supreme Confederation of Multiple Children of Greece President Vasilios Theotokatos, Vice Presidents Thomas Gianniotis and Dimitris Stamoulis, General Secretary Dimitra- Ines Aggeli, the members of the Executive Committee Konstantinos Soldatos and Ioanna Fotopoulou, the Director Charalambos Pavlos and the Professor of the University of Western Attica and Director of the Social Management Research Laboratory Gavriel Amitsis.
