The president of SYRIZA-PS is touring the prefecture of Lasithi today
“THE support of National Health System is for us the top priority for the next four years and she is our big difference with the ND design»said the president of SYRIZA-PS, Alexis Tsiprasfrom her hospital Ierapetrawhich he visited as part of his tour today to Prefecture of Lasithi, in Crete. As he noted, the plans of Mr. Mitsotakis will lead to the closure of structures.
In particular, in statements he made, after speaking with the staff and management of the Ierapetra hospital, he emphasized that “The National Health System, unfortunately, is in the worst moment it has ever been. And this can be seen, I think, especially in the regional hospitals.”
He pointed out thata drawings by Mr. Mitsotakis –“secretly, but revealed after Pneumatikos’ statements”– will lead to closure of structures and the prefecture Lasithiou “is the first to be hit by this planas their perception is: Reduction of public health expenditure, reduction of public structures, transformation of hospitals into Private Legal Entities, reduction of staff of course, as planning is not for recruitment, but simply for retirement replacements and even patient screening, as Mr. Pneumatikos revealed”. The SYRIZA president added that this means “that the lack of public spending on health will lead to even this cynical choice. When a patient has a low life expectancy, don’t give them the expensive treatment.” On the contrary, he commented, “whoever has access to private hospitals, will be able to have hopes of living with decent conditions of medical care. “Whoever does not adapt, dies” a minister told us. Unfortunately, this is the reality.”
Mr. Tsipras underlined that “faced with this reality, we we have a plan and aim to support the National Health System». “The provision of decent medical care for all is a necessary condition for a society of justice and prosperity for all, for a society of equality. And this also goes through the increase in spending on public health, the redistribution of the resources of the Recovery Fund, which is a great hope for the future”, he added. As he mentioned, only 2% foresees the plan of New Democracy, while that of SYRIZA envisages more than 10%, in order to support the National Health System. He also noted that the SYRIZA plan foresees an increase in the salaries of doctors, first-time doctors to 2,000 euros, 15,000 recruitment of nursing and medical staff, permanent employment of all those who fought during the pandemic, inclusion of nurses in the intensive and unhealthy.
“Supporting the National Health System is our first priority for the next four years and this is our big difference with the ND planning”, concluded the official opposition leader.
