Pleussi Eleftherias and NIKI, which in the previous elections reached 3%, are chasing their entry into the Parliament with claims
By Antonis Anzoletou
Five days before the polls open, the party staffs, in addition to the intense battles for the Thrace and the tragic shipwreck off Pylos have taken paper and pencil and are doing calculations. In New Democracy they are looking for the percentage that will guarantee them a strong self-reliance. The May 21 showdown allows the “blue faction” to make their plans with a lower starting point than the 158 deputies of the ballot box of July 2019. In SYRIZA, the question is the number with which its hegemony in the space of the center-left will not be challenged for the next four years. And of course a percentage that won’t cause tremors inside. The PASOK wishes to further increase its strength in view of the European elections of 2024, just like the KKE. As far as the Greek Solution is concerned, it seems to be under pressure from its right and is trying to fend off the attack it is receiving. Pleussi Eleftherias and NIKI, which in the previous elections reached 3%, are chasing their entry into the Parliament with claims.
The poll findings so far do not show any particular changes. As far as he is concerned SYRIZA in May 2019, the percentage of Alexis Tsipras’s party may have fallen to 23.75%, recording a trend, however this was “corrected” in the national elections that followed two months later (31.53%). Now such large deviations are not expected. The citizens who will or will not come to the school screens always have the last word. In the opposition, there is a realignment of forces that causes particular interest, and more especially in the area of the center-left, which is broad and starts from PASOK and goes all the way to the KKE. THE New Democracy it appears to have the least leakage and the most pull-up of all the forces. What is expected to be the special element from the June 25 elections? The possibility of a seven-party Parliament. The last time the same number of parties got the “ticket” to the Plenary was three times in a row, in May and June 2012 and in January 2015.
According to the polls so far, if New Democracy collects a percentage close to 40.5% – 41%, it will elect 162 deputies. If SYRIZA approaches 19.5% – 20%, it will receive 54 seats, and PASOK with 11.5%, 32 MPs. From there on, the KKE is recorded at 7% (19 seats) and the Greek solution below 4% (10 seats). Above 4% is Pleusi Eleftherias (13 seats) and NIKI above 3.5% (10 seats).
