“I sincerely thank the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, for the trust in me and the honor of entrusting me with the portfolio of the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food.

I thank the Greek men and women from the bottom of my heart for the strong mandate to move faster on the path of the great changes that our country needs.

It is a great responsibility to give a dynamic boost to the “steam engine” of the primary sector, which plays such a vital role for our Greece.

We start work immediately, led by the Prime Minister, together with his colleagues and friends Deputy Ministers, Dionysis Stamenitis and Stavros Keletsis, the current general secretaries, Christiana Kalogirou, Costa Bagineta and Dimitris Papagiannidis, with all the staff of the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food and the employees of.

There is no time to waste in order to quickly begin to fully implement our programmatic commitments to:

-increase the number of professional young farmers by 60,000 by 2027,

-definitive abolition of the pre-employment tax for farmers as their main occupation,

-marketing of agricultural products (standardized), through agricultural collective schemes, from 18% to 27% in 2027,

-increase of agricultural land, for the production of organic products, from 9.1% to 16.4% in 2027,

-fairer and faster compensations for all beneficiaries by updating the ELGA regulation,

-return of EFK on Diesel to farmers for 2023 as well,

-new irrigation projects throughout the territory and modernization of TOEB and GOEB, which will irrigate more than 1.3 million hectares and benefit more than 100,000 farmers.

From tomorrow morning we are rolling up our sleeves again to build together a strong Greece, with more prosperity and a more developed primary sector”.
