As characteristically pointed out by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, “we had a very productive discussion with the financial staff. We are optimistic about the course of the economy and the high growth rates that we want to achieve and which are a central goal of our policy, so that we can implement the substantial convergence with Europe”.

The following is the full statement of Kyriakos Mitsotakis:
“It was with great pleasure that I started the cycle of visits to Ministries today, at the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, in a very productive discussion with the new financial staff.
Once again, I wish the Minister, the Deputy Minister, and the two Deputy Ministers strength in the difficult task they have undertaken.
But, as the Minister also said, we are optimistic about the course of the economy, about the high growth rates that we want to achieve, which are the central goal of our economic policy so that we can implement the substantial convergence with Europe.
We are optimistic about the gradual transformation of the economic model of the Greek economy into a model that will be more productive, more extroverted, more innovative. And we are, of course, absolutely convinced that this economic growth will ultimately have an impact, a substantial impact on improving the incomes of all Greeks, primarily our low-wage fellow citizens.
As the Minister also said, before the summer holidays of the Parliament, the first bill of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance will have been passed, in which the central pre-election commitments presented by the New Democracy before the elections will now be legislated. concerning the following year, 2024.
Many of them will have a significant economic impact on the incomes of citizens and this bill will be passed, as I said, before the beginning of August.
For more details, I refer to the government’s Program Statements and my own position, which will set the overall framework of economic policy for the next four years.”
Hatzidakis: We are stepping on solid foundations in the economy
For his part, Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis stated that “we are optimistic since we are standing on the solid foundations that were laid in the past 4 years. We have a very positive election result for the country and for the economy of Greece and it sends a message of trust, hope and perspective”.
Regarding the upcoming bill, K. Hatzidakis emphasized that “we discussed with the prime minister the framework for the first bill that will be submitted by the Ministry of Finance to the Parliament and will concern the fulfillment of the main commitments of the ND before the elections.
In this way, we also answer those who questioned the reliability of our promises and remain faithful to the path we had opened to say little and do everything”.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Finance Minister Nikos Papathanasis, Deputy Minister Haris Theocharis, Deputy Minister Thanos Petralias, State Minister Akis Skertsos and head of the Prime Minister’s Economic Office Alexis Patelis.
