The Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas Tasoulas, asked everyone to respect the time they have at their disposal to position themselves each time
With recommendations to respect the time limit within which those who rise to the podium should speak, the debate on the program statements of the government in Parliament began, in which Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will present the reform program and the steps he will take the government in the next period.
The President of the Parliament, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas Tasoulas, asked everyone to respect the time they have at their disposal to position themselves each time and even said that he would even write on the… walls of the Parliament “spending time”, if not.. . was forbidden by the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni.
He added that tomorrow Friday, the process will start at 09:00 and will be long.
It will start at the same time on Saturday and the completion of the process is expected at 20:00.
“I wanted to plead, now that we are starting this new four-year period, with the programmatic statements, to respect the time. “Save time”, I should have written on the walls of the Parliament building, if it wasn’t, Mrs. Mendoni, a monument and you forbade me. The way we can manage an eight-party Parliament, in terms of time management, is not magic. It is the observance of the time of the speeches. And because in the past, we were indeed generous and very tolerant, I think that now, this generosity and great tolerance should not apply, but we should try and achieve above all the observance of the time, which after all is also a matter of observing the Regulation”. said the president of the House and insisted: “I emphasize, the observance of time will be strict so that as many colleagues as possible can speak and I ask for everyone’s assistance.”
SYRIZA’s parliamentary representative Nikos Pappas asked for the floor. “You are the beginning of the revolution of keeping one’s word. Let’s see if you are a revolutionary…”, said the president of the Parliament before giving the floor to Nikos Pappa.
“I promise to be within the agreed terms. Good strength to all in this new Parliament. It is obvious that the Bureau is called upon to manage a situation of a multi-party Parliament and a crowded cabinet. Usually the times escape from the many positions of the ministers. So we would like the agreed terms to be respected, for the members of the government to show restraint, so that many MPs can speak and of course also Mr. Voridis who I see here in front of me and who has special parliamentary duties”, said Nikos Pappas and added: “we take what you said about punctuality at face value and we consider that as a priority it concerns the members of the government”.
“As a priority, punctuality concerns everyone”, commented the president of the Parliament.
The process began with the reading of the government’s Programmatic Statements by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and will conclude with the roll-call vote for a vote of confidence in the government.
The schedule in detail:
