Speaking to SKAI, Andreas Loverdos characterized his resignation from PASOK as an act of liberation, while he noted that it was done in a soft way as he chose, as he was not in the mood for disputes with the party, in which he spent his entire life.

He added that he left because it is not right for him to cause trouble in the party by expressing his views as he has a “different understanding of too many things”.

He emphasized that his central positions were exposed to the president of PASOK in the letter he sent him, which he asked to be strictly confidential, “because that’s how it had to be”.

“I wrote in the public announcement that the reasons are purely political, I will not tell them,” he stressed.

Regarding his political future, Andreas Loverdos said that he does not leave politicsremains “absolutely politically active” and added that he has chosen some issues to focus on, without being chatty, such as foreign policy, health, constitutional review and universities in and outside of the constitutional review debate.

Regarding the possibility of partnering with ND, he said that he has heard a lot, but he did not answer, nor will he answer, “but I will express my opinions, based on my opinions, something they have done with the future will be judged” as he said.

“I am a politician and this is how I will finish my life, don’t think that Loverdos has given up,” he noted.

He added that his decision to leave had been made, but the pre-election period did not allow it to be announced and that his position would have been more difficult if he had been elected as an MP.

For the photo with him Adonis Georgiadis he said that it had no other meaning and that Mr. Georgiadis called him like all previous labor ministers.

“We were two foreigners in the same party for political reasons, PASOK ended” he concluded

For a meeting between Mitsotakis and Erdogan

Regarding the upcoming Mitsotakis-Erdogan meeting, Mr. Loverdos said: “The momentum for dialogue with Turkey is positive and this had started to take shape after the earthquakes and then, we don’t forget what was said before the earthquakes, he noted and added that we shouldn’t raise the bar high, we understand the momentum, we keep it, on the other hand we have laughed so many times that experience says you have to keep a small basket”.

He added that it is naive to believe that the major issues between Greece and Turkey will be resolved in Vilnius.

I will not forget the exuberant agenda and I don’t understand how easily this can be overcome, Mr. Loverdos underlined while assessing that Erdogan’s turn to the West is only in words.
